In "The Trading Tribe" Seykota focuses on what he believes is the most difficult aspect of investing; controlling your emotions. If you consider yourself a trend follower, you will often find yourself trapped in between fear and greed, while you are whipsawed in volatile markets. This book helps you take a step towards recognizing what you are feeling, and being open to experiencing these unwanted feelings or 'K-nots'.
As I can understand how some readers may not find what they are looking for in a typical book on trading,I found this book very insightful on trend following common frustrations. Our emotions are our biggest enemy in the market. Seykota spends little time explaining to you what you already know, and instead spends time on helping you defeat your trading nemesis; yourself.

Most of us have been conditioned not to feel our feelings. Feelings that we do not feel run our life without our realizing it at the conscious level. Ed Seykota has brilliantly described his TT Process in his book The Trading Tribe. More I am reading this book more I am becoming aware and more I am becoming aware, more better I am becoming. At first I did not realize the importance of his TTP. Re Reading his book and giving myself time to know myself with the ideas from this book has helped me realize that there is so much to learn. Lots of learning starts when we start feeling our feelings. Ed emphasizes the importance of feeling our feelings. This may sound odd as Ed is considered a trader and not a self help book guru.
By becoming a better person a person becomes a better trader.
Ed says Everybody gets what they want. There is a lot of depth in this statement.
I am glad this book is my favorite now. While reading this book I had many AHAs. Learning now has become a Work in Progress.

Excellent Work by Ed Seykota

One of my mentors learned under Ed Seykota as well as David Druz who wrote the forward of my book, The Bible of Trend Following. Too many focus on looking for the magical indicator or system. This is not the Holy Grail. Ed teaches us the answer is inside of us. In order to start to succeed in trading one must do a complete introspection and learn about themselves. The psychology of trading is what makes market gurus. This is a must read book for the serious or professional trader.
